Tips on UV Lamp Disinfection Applications


Q: How large a UV lamp disinfects an area?

A: In general, the effectiveness is related to the strength of UV light, lightwave frequency and radiation time (scientific study shows that at wavelength 254 nm, it has the maximum germicidal effect against microorganisms). Roughly, a cubic meter space requires 1.5W lighting power. If the light is blocked or sheltered by the objects, the disinfecting effect is reduced. The lighting time can be set from several minutes to an hour, which depends on the power capacity, space size, and characters of the objects. If a UV lamp plus with ozone feature, it will supplement the loss of UV light blocked and enhance the disinfecting effect.

Q: How to Use the “House Guard”?
A:
This lamp has a power capacity of 38W, plus ozone function. The working space is roughly about 400-800 square feet. In an appropriate space, taking 15-30 minutes, it will get an ideal disinfect result. The test shows that to light an object 2 meters by 60 minutes, almost 100% of bacteria is killed. Therefore, the length of the lighting time can be varied upon the size of the space. This lamp is useful for dwelling homes, such as living room, bedroom, kitchen, washroom, foyer, and staircase, and is helpful for some public places such as restaurants, bars, shops, etc. This lamp is equipped with a remote controller to turn on/off the lamp, and the timer for automatic power off in 15-30-60 minutes. This feature gives a bit of protection, avoiding operation under exposure of UV light and ozone.

Q: How to Use the “Blue Star”?
A:
This lamp’s power capacity is 5W, plus the ozone function. It is small and cozy to fit for small space’s disinfect, such as closet, cupboard, cabinet, bathroom, bedroom, and even interior of a car. It is convenient to disinfect some small stuff such as dresses, tableware, countertops, cellphone, stationeries, masks, fresh foods, and so on, putting in a small closed room, or a large cardboard box, scattered to each other, in order the lighting and ozone able to reach the surfaces of the objects ultimately. This lamp can be powered by a built-in rechargeable battery or by a USB supply. Please note that the output voltage of the USB power supply is not exceeded 5V. At your first time using the lamp, you may need to plug the USB power supply to charge the lamp for a while, in this charging period, there is a little Red light on. When the battery is fully charged, the red light will turn off. Once the built-in battery is charged fully, it can supply the lamp working around 5 times. To turn on the lamp, pressing and holding a little button at the bottom for a few seconds, and a tiny Blue indicator light will be on. This means the lamp has been turning on within a 10-second delay. With this period to set the lamp in the space, close the lid or door, and leave it works in 15 minutes, then the lamp will be turned off automatically. Someone puts the lamp in a car, or in the trunk to disinfect the groceries, or various stuff grabbed on the streets before taking them into the house. It is a smart application!

Q: How to Use the Hand-Held (Wand), UV Lamp?
A:
This type of UV lamp has relatively less power, suitable for disinfecting on small objects, such as instant foods, tableware, stationeries, keyboard, masks, etc., very handy for either in-home or outing. Facedown to the objects, from 1-2 inches, hovering back forth in 1-2 minutes, that’s done. • The “White Torch” (3W power) and “Foldable” (3W power) both have ozone function in addition to UV lighting. • The “Rose Gold” (1.5W power) and “LED Bar" (3W capacity) are of the LED light source, with no ozone function. Usually, the hand-held lamps are powered by both battery and USB supply. When the lamp flips up, the light turns off automatically for people not to be radiated while operating the lamps.

Q: How to Use the UV Lamps safely?
A: Apparently, UV light is harmful to people. During using the UV lamp, you are required to leave away from the UV light and avoid being exposed or lighted any bit of your skins to the lighting, or eye contact by looking at the lamp when it's on. Besides, some UV lamps added ozone function for strengthening the disinfection effect. Since the ozone is excited by the lamp's shortwave UV light, turning the normal oxygen, di-oxygen (02), become into tri-oxygen (03), thus, the ozone has stronger oxidation, therefore it comes with sterilization function. When the UV lamp is turned off, let the ozone odour blowing away through opening windows, doors, or ventilation until the odour disappeared, then get into the area. Since the ozone will naturally return to the normal oxygen in 20-30 minutes, it will be safer by getting in the area after the lamp turned off for 30 minutes. The hand-held lamp's ozone feature is relatively weak. When the lamp on, keep an arm-length distance is fine and do not attempt to inhale the odour. As the UV light and ozone do not leave over any residual on the objects after the procession, it is regarded as the cleanest treatment for sterilization. Whether using a UV lamp with or without ozone is up to the purpose and environmental condition in disinfect operation.

这款灯的功率是5W,并有臭氧功能。特点是小巧灵活,特别适用于相对小的空间消毒灭菌,如衣橱 (closet),餐具柜,卫生间,卧室,汽车等。也非常方便对零碎的小物件消毒,如衣服,文具,口罩,手机,待烹饪或鲜食的食品等。比如利用一个小房间,或大的纸箱,把灯和要消毒的物件放里面,尽量让物品分散开,使物品表面能最大限度的接受到光照和臭氧。这款灯可由内装充电电池或外接USB供电。请注意,所用的USB外接电源输出电压不能超过5V。在初次使用时,有可能内置的充电电池电量不足,可先接上USB充电。在灯的底部有个红色的小灯会亮,充电完成后红灯熄灭,每次充满电后可使用5次。开紫外灯的步骤是,按住开关按钮几秒钟后,有一个蓝色的小灯亮起,表示消毒灯即将点亮,这时有10秒钟的延时,利用这段时间把灯放进消毒空间,然后关门或盖上箱子,或离开准备消毒的区域。延时结束后,紫外灯开始工作。这款灯有自动关灯设置,15分钟后消毒自动完成。还有人把小灯放在车的后备箱里在采买过程中对物品消毒,不失为一聪明的用法。

Q:手持式消毒灯怎么用?
A:
手持式紫外灯功率小,适用于少量的物品即时消毒,如即用的食品,餐具,书桌文具等,居家或出门使用都非常方便。使用时,灯朝向物品,距离3-5公分(约1-2英寸),来回扫1-2分钟。 “白火炬” (White Torch, 3瓦) 和 “小折叠” (Foldable, 3瓦) 这两款是紫外灯和臭氧双重功能的。 “玫瑰金” (Rose Gold, 1.5瓦) 和“消毒棒”(LED Bar, 3瓦)这两款是LED 光源的,没有臭氧功能。 手持式通常有USB和电池两种供电方式, 当(灯面朝上时)自动关灯。

Q: 怎样安全地使用紫外消毒灯?
A:众所周知,紫外线对人有非常显著的伤害,在使用中应特别注意防护,应尽量避免皮肤,眼睛等部位被紫外光照射。另外,某些紫外线消毒灯为了增强消毒灭菌效果,增加了臭氧功能。因臭氧是由短波紫外线激发空气中的普通2原子氧而形成的3原子氧,具有很强的氧化作用,因而产生杀菌的效果。在紫外灯停止工作后,应使环境通风,如开门窗,开换气扇,待臭氧消散后再进入到消毒环境。因为臭氧自动还原成普通2原子氧的时间是20-30分钟。因此,在一般情况下,30分钟后进入消毒环境是安全的。手持式紫外灯的臭氧功能比较弱,人与灯保持手臂的距离,不要刻意闻、吸臭氧的气味。 因为紫外线和臭氧在消失后不会有任何残留,对物品不会造成污染,是最清洁的消毒方式。至于是使用紫外线+臭氧,或单纯的紫外线灯,可根据使用的需要和环境来选择。
